CTE Leadership Team

The CTE Leadership Team is busy planning for next school year. The team has met virtually and had one face to face meeting (social distancing).

State Meetings

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction CTE Division is conducting its meetings using a remote delivery tool. This platform allows the state to meet with district CTE Directors and staff to provide the latest updates. Derrick Fogg and Ernie Conner from Warren County Schools participate in these meetings each month.

North Carolina /Warren County Cooperative Extension Course

The Warren County Cooperative Extension Office in collaboration with North Carolina State and North Carolina Aand T. offered courses virtually during the CoVid 19 pandemic. Ernie Conner, Director of CTE had an opportunity to participate in one session of the course.

Warren Virtual Economic Engine

The North Carolina Virtual Economic Engine: Warren is a project that will provide Warren County Schools students with opportunities to investigate a business idea and work in collaboration with others to develop startup companies. Mazzi Ghoddoussi met virtually with Ernie Conner, Director of CTE for Warren County Schools to discuss the implementation process.

Teacher Meetings with CTE Coordinator

Even though the school buildings are closed, The CTE Leadership Team and CTE Teachers are working hard to ensure the students get as much instruction and support as possible. Derrick Fogg, CTE Coordinator met with each CTE teacher using a virtual meeting platform to discuss instructional methods and provide support. 

Hydroponcs Projects

When the schools closed and students were not allowed to attend, The students at Warren County Middle School were not able to complete their hydroponics lettuce project. Check out their plants just before school closed.

CTE Leadership

The CTE Leadership Team used a video conferencing system to meet due to the Covid 19 restrictions. The team planned out their strategies to serve the CTE students and teachers while the students were at home.

CTE Advanced Studies Students at Work at WCHS

The CTE Advanced Studies students in the Engineering and Construction Technology Academy at WCHS are working on a collaborative project.

Entrepreneurship Training in Grabville County

Ernie Conner, Director of Technology and CTE attended a special training session at the Granville County Convention Center. Vance Granville Community College provided this training. Leslie Scott was the trainer and used the Ice House concept. Participants delivered a two-minute presentation at the end to discuss an idea for their business. Warren County Schools is looking to provide this training to their Business, Finance, and Entrepreneurship Academy students.

Leslie Scott did a wonderful job of working with the participants in the class. She coached them on how to present their business ideas to others. 

Construction Technology Advanced Studies Students at Work

The Engineering and Construction Technology Academy students are working on a collaborative project in their CTE Advanced Studies class. 

Pharmacy Tech - Nurse Assistant Recognition Ceremony

Warren County Schools and Vance Granville Community College held a special Student Recognition Ceremony to honor the students in the Medical Science Academy at Warren County High School that completed the Pharmacy Tech and Nurse Assistant programs in the Fall 2020 session. A total of 18 students were recognized for their work.

Dr. Levy Brown, Vice President of Learning, Student Engagement and Success presented remarks to the group.

Dr. Mary l. Young, Superintendent, Warren County Schools provided remarks to the students and attendees. 

Lyndon Hall, Dean, K-12 Partnerships, Warren Campus introduced the keynote speaker for the evening

The keynote speaker was Mrs. Angela Thomas, Dean, School of Health Sciences

Each student was presented a pin and certificates from Vance Granville Community College and Warren County Schools. 

Students re-entered the room after all certificates and pins were presented

Dr. Linda Mason, Assistant Superintendent for Warren County Schools provided the closing remarks.

Vance Granville Community College President, Rachel Desmarais congratulated the students and their parents for their hard work. 

Everyone was invited to a reception after the ceremony was completed.
