Health Science Students Attend Mini- Medical School

Students in the Health Science II class at Warren County High School attended a week long Mini Medical School at Vance Granville Community College during the week of June 16 - 20th. The Wake AHEC Mini Medical School was a day camp that used computational science (computer simulation) and hands on activities (dissection) to study key aspects of medicine. Topics included anatomy and physiology, bio-chemistry, pharmacology, cardiology, epidemiology, and medical genetics and genomics. The course was taught by Becky Brady, a registered nurse and chemical engineer.  I addition, the students became CPR certified and attained certification in Youth Mental Health First Aid. Health Occupations Teacher Maggie King Harris attended the sessions with the students three days and Odessa Perry, Career Planning Teacher attended the final two days.
