Warren County Middle School Students Earn Global Digital Literacy Certification

One hundred eighth grade students were recognized on Friday, June 10th for completing at least one credential exam as part of the Internet and Computing Core Certification program. The Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) program is the world's first validated, standards-based training and certification program for basic computing and Internet knowledge and skills. Successful completion of IC3 ensures that students have the knowledge and skills required for basic use of computer hardware, software, networks, and the Internet. IC3 is the gateway to advancement in education, employment, or other certification programs. Warren County Schools is the first district in North Carolina and one of a very few in the United States to offer this global certification as part of its middle school curriculum. This program is offered through the Business and Information Technology portion of Career and Technical Education.
There are three credential exams that students must complete to earn the full certification. IC3 is offered by Certiport, the leading provider of global, performance-based certification programs and services designed to enable individual success and advancement through certification. It is also the exclusive administrator of the Microsoft Office Specialist program worldwide, responsible for the development, marketing, and administration of certification tests for the Microsoft Office suite. The three areas of the certification program include, Computer Fundamentals, Key Applications, and Living Online. Students complete a timed, 45 minute, 45 question online exams in each of the three areas. Once the students have passed all three exams, they receive their official certification certificate.
Below are the students that earned the complete IC3 certification. Congratulations to these students and Ms. Debra Clayton, Ms. Andrea Dethmers, and Ms. Pamela Hawkins for their work in preparing the students for this world recognized program.
